Hmmmm. I tend to agree. Non-recourse factoring is generally sold as an insurance style product. There is a premium and I cannot see why it should be contingent upon renewal. Big bank bully boys strike again......?

As an example of what I meant by the large companies clouding the water there was an announcement in today's press that NWF Group had secured a £44m invoice discounting facility with RBS.

To put this in context an SME turning over £1m would be likely to have a factoring facility of £125,000 and therefore one single facility like that of NWF equates financially to 360 SME's turning over £1m each

Interesting analysis. Certainly the clients I am speaking with are cash strapped and frustrated with existing lenders not generating the cash they had promised.

The market feels very tight with an increase in the numbers of brokers and lenders increasing their own marketing activity.

There also seems to be a lot of caution which manifests itself in indecision.

As such I would agree the ABFA interpretation is slightly rose tinted.

Interesting comment spotted on Business Money's website today:-

"Business Money was founded on the basis that good financial judgement is a skill that requires a blend of economic, market, legal and product knowledge."
